• Queen City Performing Arts is open and welcoming to all students. Our teachers and staff have faith in Christ Jesus and you will find that our beliefs are expressed in various ways. We do not ever seek to persuade or convert anyone to agree with our beliefs, however, it will shape how we speak or act… preferably to the betterment of us all. Just as we will respect others and not seek to compel anyone in their beliefs, we request the same of our students and their families to us and others attending any activities at or sponsored by Queen City Performing Arts.

  • Yes! We love many genres of music and encourage students to consider a variety. Our goal is to teach students in skills and techniques that will support their desires and dreams. That said, we are very strict on the words and artists we support at any lessons, classes or events. If a student requests to do a song that we are concerned about the lyrics or the lifestyle of the artist and what they promote, we will steer the student to a different song that fits the same genre or techniques to work on. Students can take what they are learning, and work on other music at their leisure.

  • Definitely! We are happy to teach adults at any age and at any level from beginning to advanced. Lessons are provided in a fun, low pressure environment. We have had students from young children all the way to 80+ yrs old!

  • For individual lessons, the age a child can begin is based on a few factors... dexterity and which instrument they are interested in, ability to listen/learn/retain, ability to remain attentive and focused. We are happy to discuss your specific needs, however, in general ages 5-6 is the earliest. We do, however, offer group classes for children as young as 3 in music and dance!! Check out our Community Classes to see what is currently available.

  • It is not uncommon for a student to start out with one instrument, and then switch to another instrument that they enjoy more. We offer a variety of instruments with a highly qualified teaching staff so there’s something for everybody. We highly recommend students stick with lessons for at least three months because some time is needed for their skills and knowledge to start blossoming. In addition, our summer sessions are a great time for “trying something new” to get an idea before making a commitment to a full semester.

  • At Queen City Performing Arts, we welcome and encourage parental involvement. In general, our expectation is that you wait in our waiting room for your child. Our teachers will gladly meet with you after lessons to discuss what was covered, what is expected for practice time at home, and how the lessons are progressing. Each of our rooms have observation windows to see into the rooms. If however, you have specific concerns or needs, please discuss them with the teachers to work out the best plan for your family. If you and your child’s teacher do decide that you being in the room is the best option, we respectfully ask that you remain quiet and do not interrupt the lesson time unless invited to join in by the teacher.

  • Please let us know 24 hours in advance if you need to miss a lesson. With 24 hours notice we can set up a makeup lesson for missing the lesson. Make up lessons are to be scheduled around the teacher’s availability. Note if you are a No Call/ No show or your notification is less than 24hrs, you will not be eligible for a make up lesson. Make up lessons do expire after two months time and there is a limit to 2 makeups offered per semester.

  • Because we have students coming from all over WNY, our policy is, if we close for weather related reasons, we will either offer a makeup lesson at the teacher’s availability, or give a credit for that lesson to the following semester. If we are not closed, and you choose not to come, you will not be offered a makeup. We greatly value our students’ families!! We will not remain open if there is a danger being out near the school. However, as you know, the weather in one part of town can be completely different than even just 10 min away! We promise to always make the best decision we can and use caution whenever necessary.

  • Queen City Performing Arts does have a limited number of instruments available for short-term usage. However, the majority of the time, we refer you to Twin Village Music in Lancaster, NY. They have been an extremely reliable and helpful resource for our students’ instrumental needs.

  • Although a real (acoustic) piano is usually best, it is not necessary to take lessons. Many students begin with keyboards. Our teachers can offer suggestions on what to purchase for the needs/vision of individual students.

  • We accept cash, check or credit card. Our treasurer is frequently available when students are taking lessons and you can see her directly for making payments. We also accept payments at PayPal.me/queencityarts. Lessons can be paid monthly or by semester (We offer a 3% discount for full semester payments with cash or check). Payments are due the first week of the semester and, if paying monthly, the week prior to the first of the month. Payments for classes are due in full the first week of classes for a semester.

  • During Community Classes, our nursery and breast feeding room is available. The nursery area is for all little ones (ages 1-5). We only require a simple fee of $5.00 USD for each class time, per child. If you’re planning on attending, and are in need of the nursery, you must make a reservation via notifying QCPA before attending your class(es). Space is limited, so please plan ahead of time(s).

During Lessons, the nursery is available upon request.

  • The Stirring (cafe and music venue) is open for communion with others, food, games, and music. There are power outlets for those who need phones charged and running personal computers. If you’re waiting on someone in a session, or in between lessons, sit back and enjoy your time in The Stirring.

  • Each parent and/or guardian(s) is required by law to remain on site for the sake of each child’s safety and legal liabilities concerning each child’s welfare. It is also a legal liability issue with Queen City Performing Arts if a child is left or perceived as being unattended.

PLEASE do not let your children run though the hallways or elsewhere through the building.

NO CHILDREN should EVER be outside without ADULT supervision.
